What we do while you’re away from home:
❏ Check the exterior and interior of your home and look for damage or vandalism.
❏ Check all doors and windows and ensure they are locked.
❏ Look for water damage around doors, windows, ceilings and floors.
❏ Check for evidence of insects or rodents.
❏ Check all heating & AC systems, electricity, plumbing, and appliances (especially important during and after power outages).
❏ If issues are detected we will notify you and/or your preferred service provider.
❏ Inform you of the current temperatures at each thermostat.
❏ Inform you of the current fuel levels in your oil, K1, or propane tanks. Coordinate fuel delivery.
❏ Run water in sinks and tubs to fill traps, and flush commodes.
❏ Inform you of the snow depth on your roof and deck.

Taking care of your coastal home while you’re away during the Maine winters

It can be difficult to allow unknown people access to your home. We will be there to open your home, and, if preferred, stay on-site while the work is being done. We will also return to lock up your residence at the end of the contractor’s work day and activate your alarm.

Entrust us to respond to your security or other monitor alarms day or night. Once on site we will report the apparent issue and if necessary, recommend what course of action might need to be taken.

Checking your generator before, or after power outages is important. Sometimes generator switches fail, preventing the power from flipping back to the local utility source. It does happen. I've seen a generator run for an entire week before it was discovered during a bi-monthly Property Watch check. Checking the oil level on a regular basis is necessary so that it is ready for the next power outage is critical.

Allow us to give you peace of mind while you are away. Checking on things after the power is restored is critical to determine if pipes have frozen, heating systems have restarted, if your generator has switched back to your local utility provider or if other issues have occurred.
